SpidersThere are two types of spiders: Stupid Surface spiders, and Underdark Spiders. One should avoid killing any spider, as they are creatures of perfection. However, the killing of the Surface spiders is acceptable provided they are hostile. One should be cautioned that if you encounter Spiders in the Underdark... take care. Many Dark Elves use these as guards for the outskirts of their cities. Phase Spiders: This is a very dangerous, but intelligent, variety of spider that can be encountered Above or Below. It is capable of reason and pack hunting tactics, and has the ability to phase like a Displacer Beast. Their webs are plentiful and powerful. Alone, they are not too difficult to fight, but in a pack they can prove quite the challenge. Green & Brown Spiders: These are common variety surface spiders, and they have animal intelligence. They cannot be reasoned with, and make poor pets. If encountered, one will likely be forced to kill them. Black Widow Spiders: These spiders are more seclusive and seem at least semi-intelligent. If encountered, you may have walked into an ambush. They usually work alone. Doom Spider: These are large black spiders, usually very violent when encountered. They are capable of ensnaring one with their webbing, and are more difficult to damage due to their thick exoskeleton. Often, spider webs, fangs, and the spiders themselves can be used for Formal magic components. |
